We know a lot of you have been waiting for it, so weâre delighted to announce that Apple Pay is now available for personal UK and European Monese cards in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain and Sweden. This means you can make payments easily and securely, either in person using your iPhone (SE or higher) or in iOS apps and on the web.
Appleâs mobile payment service is accepted across the world and purchases can be made with just a tap of your phone at any vendor, transport terminal, shop or hotel accepting contactless payments. Itâs also worth remembering that this payment method generally avoids the limits normally associated with contactless transfers (over half of contactless payment terminals in the UK are able to take Apple Pay transactions of any value, including those at major retailers).
How to get going
Simply open the Monese app and navigate to the âCardâ screen. There youâll be able tap the âAdd to Apple Walletâ button â and youâre done! Just open your Apple Wallet and your Monese card will appear there, ready for use.
You can also set up your card straight from the Wallet app, by tapping the + icon and following the instructions.
If youâre already using Apple Pay with other payment cards, and youâd like Monese to be your go-to option, open the âWalletâ app and drag the card to the front of your Wallet. You can find out more about how to set things up in our FAQs.
Once youâre done, your iPhone will be ready for contactless payments, and even provide you with additional layers of security. This is because Apple Pay makes great use of your handsetâs lock functions (Touch ID, Face ID and passcode). On top of that, when you make a purchase, Apple Pay will use a device-specific number and unique transaction code. This means your card number is never shared with the merchant, and it will never be stored on the device or on Appleâs servers.
Apple Watch, iPad and more
Because Apple Pay is also integrated into the Safari web browser, those of you using Touch ID enabled MacBooks will also be able to pay this way when youâre shopping online. To set up on your MacBook, just go to System Preferences, select âWallet & Apple Payâ then select âAdd Cardâ.
Apple Pay is also supported on the Apple Watch and compatible iPads (iPad Pro, iPad (5th gen), iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 3). You can find a list of all the compatible devices right here.
We live in a world increasingly reliant on digital and contactless payments. With this in mind, weâre excited to be enhancing our smart, simple money management experience with integrated payment solutions like Apple Pay â and to be offering our customers what is one of the easiest and safest methods of contactless spending currently available.
